ZEBCO. (See Zero Hour Bomb Co). A large tackle company in Tulsa, Oklahoma that was famous for the production of the first closed face spinning reels. They later acquired Langley, and grew into one of the larger fishing tackle companies in the United States. The company was sold in 2000.

ZERO HOUR BOMB CO. Tulsa, Oklahoma. The original name of Zebco. Originally a manufacturer of oil field explosive devises. In 1947 they hired R. D. Hull, the inventor of the original Zebco reel, and expanded it into a large tackle conglomerate. Zebco became the official name of the company in 1956. The first model closed face spinning reel bears the Zero Hour Bomb Co. name.

ZWARG REELS. The reels produced by Otto Zwarg are very similar to those of his employer, Edward vom Hofe. They are very high quality, and due to the limited number produced, they are certainly rarer than those of Edward vom Hofe. According to Zwarg collector and historian Norm Pinardi, Zwarg reels can be dated by the letter prefix in the serial number. A=1946, B=1947, etc.
